STARK Group signs long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Energi Danmark
STARK in Denmark has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement with Energi Danmark. This agreement will see STARK purchasing renewable energy from a new 122-hectare solar park in Djursland, Denmark.
This long-term agreement marks a significant milestone in STARK Group’s ongoing efforts to decarbonise its operations and achieve its climate targets. By committing to this ten-year power purchase agreement, STARK is both supporting the construction of the solar park and contributing to the increase of renewable energy in the Danish electricity grid.
”At STARK Group, we have ambitious carbon reduction Science Based Targets aligned with The Paris Agreement towards 2030, and we are committed to reaching Net Zero by 2050. We are making good progress towards our targets, and this agreement is an important step on our decarbonisation journey. This agreement reflects our dedication to promoting additionality and supporting the development of new renewable energy. By partnering with Energi Danmark, we help contribute to creating more green electricity, rather than just purchasing the energy that already exists on the grid,” says Louise Askær-Hune, Senior Director Group Sustainability & ESG
The PPA ensures that STARK will purchase power from the solar park, providing a stable financial foundation for the project and securing a competitive price for renewable energy over the next decade.
NRGi Renewables is responsible for the establishment of the solar park, while Energi Danmark will manage the electricity supply. The upcoming solar park is expected to be operational by spring 2025 and will produce 132.000 MWh per year.
